ABOUT MOBILE BALLET
Mobile Ballet is the premier classical ballet school and performing company in south Alabama, providing world class performances, impactful outreach programs, and the highest quality dance training from beginner to pre-professional. Mobile Ballet was founded as a nonprofit organization in 1987, and has been an integral part of the Mobile arts community for over 35 years.
The mission of Mobile Ballet is to provide superior dance education, to present quality performances, and to promote the ballet to the community as an expression of the human spirit.
We believe that the performing arts are essential to the vibrant quality of life of our community, and we are proud to present THREE MAJOR PRODUCTIONS each year for the community to enjoy. These productions are performed by Mobile Ballet students and the auditioned Mobile Ballet Company along with extraordinary guest artists from around the world.
In addition to the public performances, we offer special fully-staged performances for K-12 students through our DISCOVER DANCE PROGRAM. We recognize the positive impact both arts education and exposure to performing arts have on students, and we are honored to introduce several thousand students each year to ballet and the beauty of live performances. As funding for the arts continues to diminish, we are committed to providing this opportunity through greatly discounted tickets in an effort to contribute to a more vibrant and arts-literate community.
The MOBILE BALLET SCHOOL, with two studios located in Mobile and Daphne, provides dance instruction to over 300 students annually, from age 3 to adult. We offer excellent dance training in a welcoming and encouraging atmosphere, with a seasoned faculty of professional instructors as well as esteemed guest instructors from around the country. We are proud to offer a full range of classes in ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, contemporary, conditioning, and more, including our popular adult program.
Many of our students have been admitted to top programs such as the School of American Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Dance Theater of Harlem, Juilliard School, and others, and several of our alumni have gone on to dance professionally at the most prestigious companies throughout the country.
Mobile Ballet’s RELEVE PROJECT tuition assistance program provides opportunities for students of all ages and levels to take classes and participate in performances. Donor-supported scholarships assist students in class training as well as summer study in an array of prestigious and challenging programs around the country.
The MOBILE BALLET COMPANY is an auditioned student company offering the opportunity to receive advanced training and join professional guest artists on stage in our signature productions, as well as participate in many community events and outreach programs.
We provide creative in-studio and on-location EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH PROGRAMS in partnership with several local organizations and schools, allowing us to positively impact hundreds of students of all demographics in the communities we serve. Through our SHARE THE DANCE initiative, we have also been able to broaden audience outreach to the community through partnership with area nonprofit organizations. Thanks to donor support, we have been able to provide over 10,000 complimentary tickets through this program.
Mobile Ballet is supported by the Alabama State Council on the Arts and National Endowment for the Arts, the City of Mobile, and Mobile County Commission, along with a broad base of support from local foundations, corporations, and individual donors.
We are a proud member of the Mobile Arts Council and the Alabama Dance Council, as well as the Mobile Chamber of Commerce and Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce.
