UNIFORMS & DRESS CODE

Detailed information is provided below about uniform requirements for each Level of our School for classical ballet and for jazz, tap, and contemporary classes.  Please contact the Mobile Ballet office with any questions regarding uniforms at (251) 342-2241 or info@mobileballet.org.

Dress Code

In keeping with classical ballet tradition and to achieve a uniformity of appearance, a strict dress code is followed.

Hair must be secured into a neat classical ballet bun for all ballet classes. Hair that is very short, textured, or in protective styles, must be secured neatly off the face and neck to allow instructors to assess alignment, allow the dancer to move freely, and not distract other dancers in class. 

Starting with Level 3, underwear should not be worn under leotards and tights. No sports bras are to be worn in ballet classes; if a dancer desires extra support, a nude dance bra with clear straps may be worn under your leotard.

Other than small stud earrings, no jewelry or accessories are allowed in class. No smart watches are allowed in any class!

Uniforms

Mobile Ballet School students are required to wear the uniform assigned to their level for all classes.

GIRLS:  pink or skin-tone ballet tights and shoes; and leotard and skirt from the chart below

BOYS – All Levels:  white tight-fitted t-shirt, black footed tights, black ballet shoes, and a dance belt (when necessary)

JAZZ, TAP, or CONTEMPORARY: students may wear black jazz pants, leggings, or shorts with uniform leotard; and black tap and jazz shoes

A specific uniform is not required for the following; however, we recommend:

ADULTS:

• Ladies – pink or skin-tone ballet tights and shoes; and leotard and skirt of any solid color
• Men – white t-shirt, black footed tights, black ballet shoes, and a dance belt

HOMESCHOOL:

• Girls – Dance dress or leotard and skirt of any solid color; pink or skin-tone tights and shoes
• Boys – White t-shirt, black tights/pants; black ballet shoes or socks

MOMMY & ME:

• Girls – Dance dress of any solid color; pink or skin-tone tights and shoes
• Boys – White t-shirt and shorts of any solid color; ballet shoes or socks
• Parents – Comfortable clothing that allows for movement, like athletic wear or leggings and t-shirt; ballet shoes or socks
